A few quick checks often solve it:
- Thermostat mode. Make sure it's set to heat. After the warm season, the switch is a common culprit.
- Thermostat batteries. If a digital display is blank, or the furnace isn't even trying to start, try new batteries.
- The filter. A dirty filter blocks airflow and can make the system shut itself down.
- Outside vents. High-efficiency furnaces vent out the side of the house. Ice and snow drifts can block them, which makes the furnace overheat and shut off.

How much does furnace repair cost?
There's a call-out fee for a technician to come out and diagnose the problem. It covers the technician's time to find the problem and tell you what the repair will cost, with no hidden charges. After hours and on weekends the call-out fee is higher, because technicians are on overtime and many suppliers are closed. We'll tell you the fee when you book.
We can't give a full repair price until a technician has assessed it, because the same part can cost very different amounts for different furnace brands. Once we know the problem, we quote the repair before doing it. Our parts are flat-rate, so if the job takes longer than expected, you aren't charged more.
Do you offer emergency furnace repair?
Yes. We offer 24-hour emergency service, and technicians are available 7 days a week. After-hours and weekend calls have a higher call-out fee.
Why do you give an arrival window instead of an exact time?
We book a two-hour arrival window and call you when we're on the way. Repair and diagnosis times vary from job to job, and we travel all over the city, so traffic, part pickups and a longer repair before yours can affect arrival. We always do our best to keep you updated.
