Homes in Nolan Hill
Nolan Hill is one of north Calgary's newer communities. Roads along its edges include Sarcee Trail, 144 Avenue NW, Shaganappi Trail and Symons Valley Parkway.
Most homes in Nolan Hill have newer high-efficiency furnaces, so the focus is on keeping them running well and protecting the manufacturer's warranty, which usually depends on regular maintenance.
Many new homes are built without air conditioning. If you're thinking about adding it, we'll size a unit to your home and give you a free quote.
Problems we see in homes like these
Blocked side-wall vents
High-efficiency furnaces vent out the side of the house. Ice and snow drifts can block the pipes, and the furnace shuts itself off to stay safe.
Condensate drain issues
High-efficiency furnaces drain water as they run. A blocked or frozen drain line can stop the furnace.
Protecting your warranty
Most manufacturers require regular maintenance to keep the warranty valid. A yearly tune-up covers that.
Dirty filters on a new system
Construction dust and new-home living clog filters faster than you'd expect, restricting airflow and straining parts.

Questions from Nolan Hill homeowners
Do you provide furnace repair in Nolan Hill?
Yes. We provide furnace repair, furnace installation, air conditioning and water tank service at homes in Nolan Hill. We serve it from our Royal Oak base in the same quadrant.
How soon can a technician get to Nolan Hill?
We book a two-hour arrival window and call you when we're on the way. Repair and diagnosis times vary from job to job, and we travel all over the city, so traffic, part pickups and a longer repair before yours can affect arrival. We always do our best to keep you updated.
For no-heat emergencies we offer 24-hour service, 7 days a week.
How much does a service call cost?
There's a call-out fee for a technician to come out and diagnose the problem. It covers the technician's time to find the problem and tell you what the repair will cost, with no hidden charges. After hours and on weekends the call-out fee is higher, because technicians are on overtime and many suppliers are closed. We'll tell you the fee when you book.
We can't give a full repair price until a technician has assessed it, because the same part can cost very different amounts for different furnace brands. Once we know the problem, we quote the repair before doing it. Our parts are flat-rate, so if the job takes longer than expected, you aren't charged more.
Does a new furnace really need a yearly tune-up?
Most manufacturers require regular maintenance to keep the warranty valid, and a tune-up keeps a new furnace running safely and efficiently. We check the burners, ignition, venting, condensate drain and safety controls. See furnace tune-ups for what's included.
Honest work, said in their words
Calgary homeowners have been calling Flash Furnace for more than 15 years. Here's what they say on Google.
I found Flash Furnace through my community Facebook page and am so thankful I did. My furnace quit working on Sunday and didn't want to risk waiting so called and Aaron was able to come out within a few hours. Thankfully it was a part he had in stock and was able to fix it quickly and efficiently. He was professional, helpful and did not try to pressure me with upsales. For friendly, professional and helpful services, try Flash Furnace, a NW, local, independent company.
