Furnace repair in Sundance, Calgary
Flash Furnace serves homes in Sundance, in southeast Calgary, with furnace repair, replacement, air conditioning and water tank service. We're based in Royal Oak NW and offer 24-hour emergency service.
Homes in Sundance
Roads along its edges include Macleod Trail and Stoney Trail. It's built around the 33-acre man-made Sundance Lake, next to Fish Creek Provincial Park.
Sundance was established in 1982, so the oldest homes here are around 44 years old. If your home still has its original furnace, it's well past the age where most furnaces are replaced, and it's worth weighing repair against replacement. If the furnace has been replaced since, the age of the current unit is what counts, and we can check it for you.
We'll tell you honestly whether a repair makes sense or whether your money is better spent on a new, properly sized high-efficiency furnace. If replacement is the right call, quotes are free and financing is available.
Problems we see in homes like these
Ignition and flame sensor faults
Furnaces that try to start, then shut off, often have a worn igniter or a dirty flame sensor. These are common, usually quick repairs.
Tired motors
Inducer and blower motors wear out with age. Noises, a burning smell or weak airflow are early signs.
Heat exchanger concerns
Older furnaces are more likely to develop heat exchanger issues, which can let carbon monoxide into the home. A yearly tune-up checks for this.
Adding air conditioning
Many homes from this era were built without AC. We can size an air conditioner to work with your current furnace, or replace both together.

Questions from Sundance homeowners
Do you provide furnace repair in Sundance?
Yes. We provide furnace repair, furnace installation, air conditioning and water tank service at homes in Sundance. We're based in Royal Oak NW and travel across the city.
How soon can a technician get to Sundance?
We book a two-hour arrival window and call you when we're on the way. Repair and diagnosis times vary from job to job, and we travel all over the city, so traffic, part pickups and a longer repair before yours can affect arrival. We always do our best to keep you updated.
For no-heat emergencies we offer 24-hour service, 7 days a week.
How much does a service call cost?
There's a call-out fee for a technician to come out and diagnose the problem. It covers the technician's time to find the problem and tell you what the repair will cost, with no hidden charges. After hours and on weekends the call-out fee is higher, because technicians are on overtime and many suppliers are closed. We'll tell you the fee when you book.
We can't give a full repair price until a technician has assessed it, because the same part can cost very different amounts for different furnace brands. Once we know the problem, we quote the repair before doing it. Our parts are flat-rate, so if the job takes longer than expected, you aren't charged more.
Is it worth repairing an older furnace in Sundance?
It depends on the furnace's age, its condition and the cost of the repair. A small repair on a furnace that's otherwise in good shape usually makes sense. A big repair on a furnace near the end of its life often doesn't. We'll explain the options honestly, and replacement quotes are free.
Honest work, said in their words
Calgary homeowners have been calling Flash Furnace for more than 15 years. Here's what they say on Google.
I found Flash Furnace through my community Facebook page and am so thankful I did. My furnace quit working on Sunday and didn't want to risk waiting so called and Aaron was able to come out within a few hours. Thankfully it was a part he had in stock and was able to fix it quickly and efficiently. He was professional, helpful and did not try to pressure me with upsales. For friendly, professional and helpful services, try Flash Furnace, a NW, local, independent company.
